Derived Components

  • Ji
  • Fi/Te Axis

Introversion

In the case of Fi what introversion does is focuses Fi on internal verification rather than external verification. This makes Fi a function which doesn't turn to others to know what is valuable and not valuable. Thus they are very hard to convince without first understanding what they have found to be important.

Judgement

Judgement means that Fi wishes to be correct. Fi is very careful in the manner in which it sorts through the varying different positions it can take and when it reaches a judgement it seeks to embody it and express it authentically.

Connotative

Fi deals with things that are not directly present in objects. Fi deals with values on what a thing is worth. This is something that exists inside the Fi user subject and not in the object it is dealing with. This means that Fi has this ethereal ungrounded quality to it that makes it hard to be knowable in the way that sensation or thinking is.

Feeling

Fi is a feeling function. It is the function that is used to figure out what is valuable in life. To aid in you in taking actions in the world by prioritizing the things that are most important and critical.

Ji

Fi is a Ji function this means that as a function it is very concern with figuring out; Who am I as an individual and what do I stand for? The answer to this question is then used to understand the other people in the Fi users life and to understand themselves deeper.

Fi/Te Axis

Fi/Te as an axis is a contextual axis. This means it is centered around the user themselves and other people aren't important in making judgements. This makes the Fi/Te user very independent and in a way independent from others. When you are trying to convince a Fi/Te user or understand them you have to really understand them as a person otherwise they won't be open to your perspective.

What Fi Can Look Like

Misunderstood

Fi types usually feel misunderstood by others. Fi types are very strongly connected to their hearts. They usually have many emotions that they have processed. Their values represent the totality of life experience that they have had and as they navigate the world they have very strong feelings about the things they are interacting with.

Other people rarely see this, nor feel it. Thus the most important part of the Fi type is inaccessible to others. Worse yet other people usually judge the Fi user negatively due to taking a strong stance. This leads the Fi type to feeling alienated and misunderstood.

Dealing With Emotions

Fi types are very well equipped to deal with emotions. Fi as a process is trying to make sense of the emotions going through the Fi user and to make sense of them and to represent them as well.

When an Fi user has to deal with a strong emotion they have Fi as a reliable tool for doing so. This makes the Fi user very strongly connected with their own heart and very able to deal with situations that would be crippling otherwise. Thus strong Fi can have a therapeutic effect on the Fi user.

Artistic

Many Fi users feel a very strong calling towards art and artistic expression. The things that Fi spends a lot of time on can only be represent in an artistic manner. This is why they can spend a lot of time trying to find the right medium. It could be music, poetry, dance, drawing, writing, games or any other medium. The point being is to produce in the other person the emotions that the Fi type has felt themselves. When this is successful the barrier between the Fi user and the other person can be bridged and a deeper understanding established.

Hard To Understand

Due to deep feelings that make up the values of the Fi type. They are often very difficult to understand. They can have lots of sensitive points as well that bewilder the outside observer.

This makes it hard to figure out their motives and to seek to predict their actions. To truly understand the Fi user really requires a lot of work on the side of the other person.

Another factor that makes the Fi user hard to understand is that they are very complex people. The Fi user has spent a lot of time figuring out who they are and on discovering the self. This makes them have a very detailed map of their heart and this process is usually many years long. An outsider will probably need a similar amount of time to just get up to speed with the Fi user at the very least it will required more then an hour or a day.

Loves To Analyze People

Fi types are first and foremost focused on their heart and thus by extension the human heart. They spend a lot of time really trying to make sense of the complex emotions they experience and in this process it is usually very helpful for them to analyze other people and their emotional states.

This is why Fi can be very focused on the kinds of people that do things. Understanding their motives and then judging if they are good or bad people. Making sense of the nuances in people is something like a sport for them and the more that is going on and the greater the tangled web the more satisfying for them when they model correctly that person and understand them deeper.

During this process you will notice that Fi user is particular in the words that they use to describe the difference between people. This technical language is a giveaway for the thought and time they have spent really figuring the differences and understanding the motives of the person in question.
