Te

Definition : Extroverted Denotative Judgement

As I have said before in the Fe post, the definition of a function tells you what makes the cognitive function unique. Here you have the three basic criteria for determining if a function is Te.

It is an extroverted function in it's attitude. It is denotative in terms of the material that it works with. It is a judgement function in terms of what it does. We will go over what this means in detail below.

Extroverted

Extroversion is about an orientation to the object. Extroverted functions are also objective in so far as the prioritize and focus on objective things.

In the case of Te it is doing it's best to describe the external world in a factual objective manner. Te reduces the world down in to the things that it can measure and then it takes these measurements and builds a system around it. This system maps the relationships between the objects it has measured.

Judgement

Judgement is all about making choices. About being correct and after deliberating rendering a decision. In the case of Te the aim is to get things done in the external world. This is the Je agenda or judgement that is extroverted.

The basic desire to be correct primates Te as well. This is why Te can be very careful before saying something about the way the world works.

Denotative

Denotation means you describe the object as it is. This is very clear in Te, Te is looking at factual information about the object and then measuring it to describe it. This is a denotative process in the sense that you are describing the concrete manifestation of the object and not bring to it external material.

This also gives Te a very grounded flavor. Making it far easier for sensation types to follow along and verify the information that Te types are working with.

Thinking

The thinking faculty is considered with being impartial and rule bound. It is also systematic and denotative. What this means is that it is the thinking faculty that makes sense of a complex unities.

In the case of Te, there can be lots of number crunching going on. Where the Te type is attempting to represent something large and complex out there in the world in clean systematic way. This is why many people associate science with Te and I think this is a fair connection.

Je

Te is a Je function. This makes it considered with getting it's objectives met. It is also considered with figuring out the best methods of doing things.

This can make the understanding of Te seem shallow compared with the robustness of Ti however Te can get to where it's going far quicker. It also can be robust if it wants to be.

Fi/Te Axis

This axis is about what you want and how to get it. You can call this a form of self actualization. The Te in this axis doesn't really bother asking is the goal we are pursuing a worthwhile one. It simply goes out and does what must but done to achieve it.

An interesting point here is the fact that Fi/Te doesn't really care about the opinion of others. Social engagement is only important if I decided it is important but the focus is really the individual and there personal criteria.
