Introduction

Definition : Extroverted Connotative Judgement

I want to begin with the definition. The definition lets you clearly distinguish Fe from the rest of the cognitive functions. If you understand the defintion you know what makes Fe a unique cognitive function.

Below we will cover the components of this defintion as well as going over what Fe looks like in a Fe Dominant type.

Extroverted

So when we look at extroversion it is the orientation to the object and away from the subject. Where Fe prioritizes things that exist out there in the world. Real values that other people hold. One of the signals that Fe pays attention to is displays of emotion. All this keeps with the extroverted attitude of the function.

Another thing is that due to the extroverted nature of Fe other Fe types can work together on Fe stuff rather only person working on it. This makes it very shareable due to the objective nature of the function. Fe is working with something out there in the world rather than existing within the inner person of the person.

Judgement

Judgement functions all have the same basic agenda which is to be correct. In the case of Fe this manifests itself in the desire to effectively engage in the social world.

Whither it is communication, politics or business Fe figures out tactics and ways to make sure it's interests are realized. Then it goes about implementing this tactics. When it is successful it looks at it's metrics but rather than something quantifiable like Te it is usually in the sentiments of people and there acceptance or rejection of the Fe position.

When you look at this activity the basic goal is to be powerful to manifest it's will and succeed. This is a manifestation of the basic agenda of judgement. Here correctness means that Fe made the right choices and picked the winning tactics in it's social engagements.

Connotation

Both the Feeling Jungian Faculty and Intuition are both connotative. This means that instead of looking at an object and it's manifest clear and direct qualities both Feeling and Intuition look at something that exists outside the object. What the object implies and thus bring something to the object that wasn't already there.

Lets use the example of a sword again. Where sensation and thinking look at what the sword simply is. Feeling would look at what the sword means to them or what it means to the group. Both evaluations exist outside of the sword. This makes it connotation rather than denotation.

In the case of Fe what connotative does to this cognitive function is that it makes it a bit vague and unclear to non Fe types. This is due to the fact that Fe is looking at something that is not part of the object it is dealing with.

Derived Components

Feeling

The feeling faculty is a Jungian Faculty that deals with all moral evaluation. It looks at the worth of something and tries to figure out it's value.

In my experience the feeling faculty also interfaces with the human heart. What this means is that it is the feeling faculty that is used to make sense of emotional experiences and to contextualize and understand them not the thinking functions.

Now the question of value is important because without rendering evaluations of the value of something you can't really operate in the world. This is due to the fact that at any given moment there are millions of different things you can do but you are confronted with the reality that you must choose. Any choice you make has a moral evaluation tied to it for how can you make a rational choice without first having a clear set of values upon which to begin the rational process.

This is why when we go back and look at different thinkers in history we understand them as a historical product fixed in space and time. By understanding there context we can better understand there values and thus the basic criteria they used to make there choices.

Je

Je is the function that gets things done. Many people in our type community don't understand this but Fe is just as capable as accomplishing goals and making things happen as Te.

The way Fe does is my maneuvering people. By understanding the levers that move them and operating based off this knowledge. When you have developed Fe this makes you very powerful as a social entity in a society. Your power comes from your capacity to influence people.

Fe/Ti Axis

Fe/Ti axis is all about creating a universal standard by which to create group harmony. What this means is that Fe/Ti types are seeking an impartial fair rule set that they can use to make there own and other people decisions.

This can manifest itself in many different ways but one thing you regularly find in Fe/Ti types is a relentless quest for the truth. Once the Fe/Ti has acquired this truth and has based there understanding on it they now wish to share and spread this amongst the people the meet. Then craft a fair society based on truth that serves the common good.

I want to add a few thoughts on the idea of harmony. Harmony is the process of making something beautiful and beauty is a kind of good. So Fe is seeking to make the social environment a good one.

Experiences shows that you can use Fe to manipulate, deceive, corrupt and dement people. All of these things on the surface don't look like the standard notion of harmonization. What however convinced me that Fe was about harmony was understanding that harmony is relative to the person.

Let us say you have a Fe/Ti user that has decided that they wish to get rich at any cost and that wealth is the highest good. They will then create a impartial Ti standard that justifies. Funny thing is that Machiavelli was probably was Fe/Ti type. If you don't seek wealth and make it the highest good you are foolish and all people should behave as the Fe/Ti type does. They then begin to 'harmonize' the people around them in this regard and those that stand against them are against the truth known by reason.In this way you can have an evil Fe/Ti user harmonizing towards something that is against the common understanding of the common good.

How This Looks

Fe by it's very nature is social. It exist in a social space and is oriented by other people. Thus with EXFJ you have the most social types. Focused on engaging with people and understanding and engaging them in terms of there desires, values and goals. Fe is one of the most civilized functions.

Another quality you have in Fe is the sensitivity to other people. Due to the social orientation of Fe they are aware of the way the people around them around them are feeling.

Fe deals with values. With figuring out and navigating the things that people find important. Generally speaking values are tied to emotions. The greater the importance of a value the more emotions are tied to it.

Where Fi explores the emotions around a singular value, Fe explores and sees the different ways that emotions are displayed in relation to a value.

The EXFJ is also very good on putting on displays of emotions that move people. Of stirring people and getting them to move in the direction they wish for them to move. They can thus be very emotional and emotive figures.
